Transportation of Dangerous Goods is an introduction to TDG, its regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency.

The course is presented in 7 Units that consist of the following:

Unit 1: Introduction to TDG
Unit 2: Regulations and Training
Unit 3: Classification of Dangerous Goods
Unit 4: Safety Marks and Means of Containment
Unit 5: Documentation
Unit 6: Forbidden Goods, Exemptions and Special Provisions
Unit 7: Immediate Reporting and ERAPs

Course Objectives:

TDG training is designed to assists employers to comply with the training requirements of The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act as well as to instruct participants with respect to the requirements of the legislation for receiving, handling, transporting, or shipping dangerous goods and to prepare participants for emergency situations such as spills or accidents.

Evaluation Process:

At the end of each module there is a quiz that each course participant must challenge and successfully complete with a passing grade before continuing. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to print your TDG certificate. This certificate must be signed by your employer/designated manager to be considered valid. Selfemployed persons may sign off on their own certificate.

Course Duration:

The course is self paced so course duration will depend on the individual participant and their prior knowledge base with the course subject matter. On average, the course will take between 2-5 hours to complete.

Who Should Take the Course?

The TDG regulations require that, with few exceptions, every person engaged in the handling, offering for transport or transporting of dangerous goods be trained in the aspects of handling such goods.

Certification Expiration:

The TDG 'Clear Language' Training Certificate is valid for 3 years.


Please Note: Employers are responsible for providing workplace-specific training including: safe handling and transportation practices, and the characteristics of the dangerous goods you use; the proper use of equipment used to handle or transport the dangerous goods; company emergency measures to take to reduce or eliminate danger to the public.
